The Motorola MOTOROKR E6 journey…
I left my cellphone in the taxi while I was on my way home. My old cellphone was a trusty Nokia 3310 which I had for the last 6 years or so. It’s pretty tough - it fell, got wet, sat upon and so on and it still will run perfectly. Nonetheless, even this tough cellphone can’t evade the decision of fate and so we went apart.
While I was crying in sadness (LOL), I knew deep inside me that I had to get another phone. So the hunt began.
After a week of not being connected to the texting Filipino community, I finally got the heart (and the cash) to buy a new cellphone. After the agonizing moment of choosing between ASUS and Motorola, I finally decided to settle with Motorola - the Motorola MOTOROKR E6 to be exact.

A summary of its key features are as follows:
- Premium entertainment PDA at only 14.5 millimeters thick
- 2-megapixel CMOS camera with 8x digital zoom to capture the moment
- CIF and QVGA video capture for up to five hours
- Full screen video playback
- Integrated MP3 player with dedicated music keys and built-in FM radio
- PDA featuring Business Card Reader, POP3 e-mail, document viewer to view Microsoft Word, Excel, etc., PIM
- Connectivity includes integrated stereo Bluetooth® wireless technology, HTML browser, hi-speed USB 2.0 EMU, 3.5 millimeter stereo jack
- Removable memory card slot, up to 2GB full SD card support; 8MB dynamic user memory
- Extended 1000mAh battery life for long usability
- Brilliant 2.4-inch 240 x 320, 262K colors TFT external display with the latest touch screen technology
I also bought a 2GB SD-Card to go with it so I can maximize it’s MP3 player capabilities. It comes with a headphone that works pretty well and I have to say that the sound quality is good.
The PDA features are not that much but it does save me a lot of time in organizing my day-to-day schedules and guess what? It runs on LINUX! Yes.
I know… I sound like a Linux-addicted geekster but I swear I’d do anything to avoid Windows. Hehehehe.
How good is it? Works well and as advertised, battery life is pretty long. I use it as an MP3 player during my 3-hour travel to work and 3-hour travel back home, call a few friends during the day and of course, since I’m a Filipino, text a bunch of friends with each passing hour and yet I don’t have to recharge it for two to three days. Nice huh?
The only thing I miss in it is the keypad. Yes, I knew from the beginning that it doesn’t have one but now that I’m using it, I wish it had a keypad. It’s just that texting while traveling on a bumpy road is pretty tough with a stylus. The good side though when texting with the stylus is that people tend to look at you in awe while you’re doing your stuff (makes me look more like a businessman - LOL). Other than that, all I can say is that the Motorola MOTOROKR E6 rocks!
How much you say? The Motorola stores sell it at about P20,000 but I was able to buy it for only P16,000 - saving me P4,000. Where did I buy it? Try looking for Sogo in Glorietta, Makati (Philippines only).
I love this phone… really!
