Whether you just want to have a better view of the world around you or want to be just like The Terminator, this device will definitely make you go wild. It could give you the ability to zoom in on objects and even see useful information about what you’re looking at.

Question is, would you use it if you’d look like this?

Professor Moody’s Bionic Eye
Professor Moody in Harry Potter

Haha! I bet you won’t spend money for that and nor would I. Good news is that you won’t look anything like that. Modern nanotechnology has finally allowed scientists to merge electronics and the good old contact lens. Yep, they admit that the process is pretty hard to do - embedding tiny electrical circuits only a few nanometers thick into the contact lens - but they say it’s doable. For comparison, a single strand of hair is 80,000 nanometers thick so you get the idea.

The idea has always been in science fiction and Wired.com even came out with a graphic of it.

Smart Contact Lens

What you’d see in the future may be something like that or perhaps even better.

And from Technovelgy, here’s a quite interesting story…

A tiny disk sat on the tip of her middle finger. It was the size and shape of the contact lenses he had known. He hadn’t expected more, but… he bent closed and looked. After a moment, he realized that it was not quite a clear lens. Speckles of colored brightness swirled and gathered in it. Continue reading…

Now, I bet such a device would be really great. Pilots and drivers will definitely benefit from it and of course the computer geeks.
