Hiya, I know you have a lot of people on here suggesting OpenDNS as an alternate, but really this is no better than the problem SmartBro had with their compromised system. OpenDNS is a 'for profit' company, they make their money from your failed searches in the same way akratz.com does, and they are far from open. They also silently redirect google.com searches through their own systems. (and probably others). The solution, use a truly open and free DNS. Pick any two or three of the following:

4.2.2.1
4.2.2.2
4.2.2.3
4.2.2.4
4.2.2.5
4.2.2.6

If the domain doesn't exist, you get nothing, this is as it should be.

there is a BIG PROBLEM when you use OpenDNS with SmartBro...why??

because in SmartBro there are like 10-20 people sharing the same IP addresss...and with opendns it is IP related meaning every setting you made with opendns (like adult filtering etc.) it will also affect other people who share the same IP with you, especially if that person is also using opendns...

I just think the Smart Bro tech are lazy and most of them are incompetent (98%), I think they even recycle their router every 12mn on our starting last weekend, I guess they couldn't be bothered to fix the problem.

i found this blog post has been linked several times, it would be bad marketing for SmartBro and good for Globe.

If Globe is available in our area, I will surely switch to Globe.

Yes you're right Carey. Also, I've heard from many other Smart Bro users that Smart's technical support is not really of any help.

Well, I'm glad I moved over to Globe. For the same amount that I pay Smart I get 1mbps versus Smart's 384kbps and so far, I've only experienced one down time.
